Treating the Computer, Not the Patient

If this video doesn't constitute a need for a physician using a Tablet PC, I don't know what does!  This is absolutely the last thing I would want to see as a patient interacting with a physician!  The tablet is just like carrying around a patient chart, only electronic and has a format much easier to read and locate the desired information.  BD

  1. Most EMRs don't work on a tablet very well.

What was so bad about the computer setup ?

    I say it's not that bad ???

  2. She is very cold! I think the tablet can be held in hand just like a chart and it is a much better experience for all and the distraction of the keyboard is gone, plus the patient doesn't have to see how bad a doctor's typing is too.:)

  3. I'm guessing that this doc would have been staring her tablet (or a paper chart, for that matter) instead of the "conventional" computer setup in her room. The method of data recording does not change the "warmth" of the physician.
