Walgreen is cutting to the head of the drugstore line with a $2.7 billion offer for Longs Drug Stores. Walgreens bid could block CVSs proposed acquisition of Longs and puts the two drugstore giants in a head-to-head battle for dominance on the West Coast, the WSJ reports this morning.
