Nine hospitals across England have been purchased by BMI Healthcare, following transfer of ownership from Nuffield to BMI on 2 February 2007. Hospitals in Birmingham, Bury St Edmunds, North London, Gerrards Cross, Harrogate, Huddersfield, Lancaster, Lincoln and Nottingham are all part of the deal, bringing BMI's total number of hospitals to 58.

These BMI Healthcare hospitals' principal focus is on private patient care for outpatients, day case and inpatients. Each hospital has an experienced doctor on-site 24 hours a day to support patient care and a fully qualified nursing, clinical and support team plus diagnostic and treatment technology relevant to the patient procedures undertaken. They are chosen by over 9,000 specialist consultant doctors for private patient care and limit their admission of NHS patients to 10% or less of total patients.
