The robotic DaVinci surgical system has announced new enhancements. High definition and an updated software platform. The DaVinci machine has also been used in telesurgery as well, with the surgeon operating from miles away over the internet. That is one great gift this technology has to offer, as well as providing minimally invasive procedures with small incisions and faster healing times for the patients with smaller incision.
Under the “resources” side of this site, OR Live offers live and recorded surgeries to view, some of which include CME credit and many are now featuring procedures using the DaVinci robot. It is an investment for any hospital and there are portions of the machine that are disposable and removed after each procedure. The new enhancements also feature dual consoles. BD
Launched in April 2009, the da Vinci Si introduces several enabling features, including:
Enhanced high-definition 3D vision for superior clinical capability
An updated user interface for streamlined setup and OR turnover
Extensibility for digital OR integration
Dual-console capability to support training and collaboration during minimally invasive surgery.
Advanced 3D HD visualization with up to 10x magnification and an immersive view of the operative field
EndoWrist® instrumentation with dexterity and range of motion far greater than even the human hand
Intuitive® motion technology, which replicates the experience of open surgery by preserving natural eye-hand-instrument alignment and intuitive instrument control
