Here’s some more healthcare money being spent on legal suits over ED drugs.  You know if pharma keeps up with all these extensive legal battles it might begin to start depleting some profits and of course it keeps the cost up there for us.  There’s an appeal process too and this goes back to 2002 when a suit was filed against Eli Lilly, so by the time all this is finished, now that the word is out on Horny Goat Weed business may drop all the way around, as it is sold as a natural herb and contains some of the same ingredients.

"Horny Goat Weed" Shows Promise In Lab Studies as alternative for Viagra

Kaiser Permanente has battled covering ED drugs like Viagra and perhaps Horney Goat Weed can fit the bill there too, so value those samples you get as you can see by the court battles here the price is only going to continue to rise. In May 1999, a 100-count bottle of the blue diamonds cost $700. Today, that same bottle costs $1,457.61.  Now you know why alternatives are being searched out without the legal fees attached to the cost.  Now if you get the Cialis and take one every day at close to the same cost you are up to 365 pill a year, over 3 times the 100 pill count cost.  Anyway, through this illustration I hope you can see a connection of legal costs impacting what we pay for drugs.  image

Now they want to possibly prescribe for women, well we have our own hormone medications to worry about too so whether it’s impromptu bath tub sex or Viva Viagra I don’t think there’s a huge captive crowd at the price and perhaps Horny Goat Weed is good for us too.

Now the patent for the “drug” Viagra expires in 2012, so all of this above is legal costs for the Trademark only!

Don’t get too worried though as Medtronic may have a stent that will help you out soon as it is in clinical trials and perhaps the birth of a new type of surgeon here, the interventional urologist.

Suffering from ED – Medtronic May Have A Stent for That – Clinical Trials

If this news is not enough, recent clinical trials using a shock wave device too are showing favorable results, so in the near future, drugs may not be the only option.  The trial from the shockwave treatment actually “cures” the arterial blood flow problem with many men and thus they no longer need Viagra, Cialis and Levitra, so if the trials work out you can dump all the ED medications and potentially be cured.

Shock Wave Therapy for Treating and Curing ED

Last but not least there’s the Happy Rabbit who was successfully implanted with a penis grown in a dish, it worked and he produced offspring and this of course is being developed to help humans at some point too, gee this could even make sex change operations easier too.

Anyway, see the huge amount of money being spent on frivolous lawsuits when other herbs, devices, and transplants too may have the potential to leave ED drugs in the dust, and yet we have all this money spent over patents, trademarks, and so on, while the economy is in a bad state right now and recovery ideas are being developed right and left.

In view of this, all these legal cases are pretty stupid and shows a couple Pharma companies who are out of touch with reality and we pay for it.  I can’t understand why they cannot act like adults and settle this and quit dragging out court costs that get passed on to the consumers?   The problem is that they might be so far in the forest they can’t see the trees.  Actions of such also stand in the way of real healthcare reform.

With tough times you can almost bet that Horny Goat Weed compared to the costs above is going to start looking pretty good as well as the other developing technologies.  You can read a fairly recent Journal publication that stated Horny Goat Weed has the potential to work even better, from Web MD.

This page is selling it as an additive to your coffee, I guess like a cocktail would be except you get your “love potion” in your coffee.

Ok so what’s next Viagra Tea and Cialis Espresso to stay alive in the market in case the “weed” takes over?   Imagine a prescription for your morning coffee, but nothing surprises me today and it may not be affordable for most.  Could you see an HMO battling over a claim for this? (grin).   This is all about cost here and the 2 big companies need to settle their differences as it looks pretty stupid by today’s standards and perhaps that shockwave treatment could in time prove to put them all down the drain.

It’s been a huge financial ride but there’s new developments on the horizon and perhaps it’s time to think about spending money in better places than the US Trademark department if you want a return on investment.  BD

An appeals board of the patent agency, in a February 12 decision, upheld an earlier finding that an element of the Viagra patent did not represent a new invention.

The claims came under contention as part of a patent infringement lawsuit Pfizer filed against Eli Lilly and Co, which makes the rival drug Cialis.

The board of patent appeals said in a ruling posted on its website on Tuesday that a chemical ingredient of Yin Yang Huo, which is used to treat impotence and sometimes sold as an alleged aphrodisiac, is similar to the enzyme inhibitor found in Viagra.

"The decision has no effect on Pfizer's patent claims relating to Viagra," Pfizer spokesman Chris Loder said.

  5. I should say it is a detailed article. Talks about a variety of things - something which I never thought could exist. What I found different in your article is the way you have gone about to explain the topic in a simplistic way.
