Small hospital ER, but one more resource will be gone soon...
Tustin Hospital and Medical Center will close its 6-bed emergency department effective Dec. 29, officials said today. Local hospital and health officials expect the county's 30-some hospitals will be able to absorb the patient load. State data shows that in 2005, 7,815 patients visited the Tustin Hospital emergency department. They accounted for about 1 percent of total emergency visits in the county.
In the last 10 years, more than 60 California hospitals have closed their emergency rooms.
