With the certification of EMR/EHR records, this is proving to be quite a large task, in an earlier post it has been identified that the government was asking for help from software security vendors and now we need more volunteer on the other side of the coin...it appears both sides are going beyond the current capabilities with rapid evolving technologies...if you find you might have some spare time there's information at the end of the post on how you could get involved...the ambulatory group is listed as looking for volunteers....this recent post also reflects on the development side from the current software vendors as well....it is one big moving target adding new focus challenges almost daily...BD

image With a growing list of initiatives, the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology is seeking volunteer members for 10 work groups. And that doesn’t even cover CCHIT’s plans to expand certification programs to long-term care and other specialty areas once market research and other preparations are complete.

Other work groups looking for additional members include ambulatory, cardiovascular medicine, child health, emergency department, inpatient, interoperability, privacy and compliance, and security.

CCHIT is accepting applications through May 4 at cchit.org/volunteer. The commission also continues to accept public comment on 2008 certification criteria and test scripts through May 1 at cchit.org/participate/public-comment.
