This is probably just one story of many about how difficult and confusing it is today to select a health care plan..speaking to and getting documents from 17 Blue Cross representatives...BD
LODI - In one hand, retiree Norman Walker holds a letter from Blue Cross acknowledging his application for a Medicare prescription-drug plan is complete. In the other, he holds a "change form" from the same insurance company, asking him to fill it out so they can process his application.
Sound confusing? Medicare officials have taken a personal interest in the Walkers' case and also are working on a resolution, according to spokesman Jack Cheevers.
Both documents came in the mail within days of Walker's "nightmarish" telephone experience Nov. 16 with no less than seven different Blue Cross representatives. (That date is significant because it is the second day of the federal Medicare program's 45-day open-enrollment window for tens of millions of seniors and disabled beneficiaries to sign up for Part D prescription-drug coverage.)
