NEW YORK, Dec 4 (Reuters) - UnitedHealth Group Inc said on Tuesday it expects membership in its commercial plans for employers to fall next year but forecast growth in its government plans for seniors and the poor.
The largest U.S. health insurer by market value offered a detailed 2008 forecast and broad overview of its business during its annual investor conference, which was held in New York and broadcast over the Internet.
"We pursued too much change, too fast, and the results were too disruptive," said David Wichmann, an executive vice president. During the half-day meeting, UnitedHealth officials addressed disappointment with its commercial business, admitting to service problems that led to physician resentment and network disruption.
