Still, an opinion piece by crime novelist and psychology prof Jonathan Kellerman in today’s WSJ goes further than anything we’ve seen in saying the insurance system is the central health-care problem in this country. As a result, Kellerman argues the most fundamental reform in health care would be to have fewer rather than more people insured.

How come? “You don’t need to be an economist to understand that any middleman interposed between seller and buyer raises the price of a given service or product,” he writes.
