It sounds like the lawsuit filed to terminate relations with Tenet has worked..BD
NEW YORK (AP) - Analysts agreed Tuesday that Tenet Healthcare's decision to end its relationship with the University of Southern California will eliminate a major distraction for the hospital operator.
On Monday, Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. said it tentatively agreed to sell the 411-bed USC University Hospital and 60-bed USC Norris Cancer Hospital to USC for an undisclosed sum.
The deal would end a long-standing dispute between the company and the school — USC had filed a lawsuit in August 2006 seeking to terminate its relationship with Tenet, and last November Tenet filed a counterclaim. USC physicians had complained Tenet wasn't investing enough capital resources at the hospital, and in protest the physicians sent referrals to other hospitals.
