Tenet has been defending three lawsuits alleging that its hospitals violated California labor laws and wage and hour regulations, the company said in a regulatory filing. Another case pending in California involves unpaid overtime, the company said.

Hospital admissions, excluding the impact of a facility the company acquired in June, increased 1 percent from the year-earlier period to 145,715. Admissions of people without insurance increased 5.4 percent to 6,066, while charity care admissions fell 14.7 percent to 2,405.
