Grocery chain Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. has updated software in its checkout systems to enable consumers to use their health savings account or flexib
le spending account card when purchasing over-the-counter health and wellness items.
The software enables the checkout system to identify qualified products, charge them to the account, and subtract that amount from the total owed for other purchases being made at the same time. The total spent on qualified health care items will be displayed separately on the receipt.
