The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services stated the system in California is flawed, but the California Hospital Association thinks miscommunication is at the root of many complaints and that perhaps stronger hospital workers who oversee a case, could be part of the answer.  A strong advocate in any hospital certainly can’t hurt.  This imagesomewhat goes along with one of my favorite subjects about the disconnected individual…they are everywhere and we see them all the time, folks that have somehow forgotten how to verbally communicate and rely on “text boxes”, but especially with health care, it’s time to remember how to “live outside the text box”.  Granted, much information moves via data channels today, but lacks a couple elements, sound and sight, so health care without will not work, it’s the human business!  BD

The pattern of complaints that are n ever substantiated extends beyond nursing homes. The majority of complaints lodged against California medical facilities -- hospitals, medical clinics and others regulated by the state Department of Public Health -- are dismissed without action.
