Now we have China breaking into the recall scene with ordering a recall of a very imagecommonly used antibiotic and I don’t know how they go about their procedures in China but again, here’s one more case that demands attention for a better and easier system.  I have been calling for the US FDA and drug and device companies to use 2D bar codes, so anyone could scan a product and perhaps as recalls move in a global direction maybe it might get a little more attention?

In addition, Taiwan has ordered recalls of sports drinks and other fruit juices sold that have the same content issues.  The additive is something that is used in the manufacturing of plastics.  A couple years ago we had the melamine scare which did create real health problems with children and now they have found a use to make bricks out of melamine.  image

China wants to make bricks from toxic milk - melamine

I think when we get a certain amount ingested into our systems we start reaching some real danger points.  From what was noted here in the article, the products appear to have originated in France and I wonder if we have any of the same products here in the US?  BD

BEIJING - CHINA on Saturday ordered British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline to recall an antibiotic used to treat infections in children which was found to be tainted with a plasticizer.

Traces of diisodecyl phthalate (DIDP), which is used to make plastics more flexible, were found in Glaxo's amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium suspension, which is sold under the tradename Augmentin, the State Food and Drug Administration said on its website.

Glaxo was ordered to immediately stop selling the antibiotic and recall those which had already entered the market.

Hong Kong last week ordered a recall of Augmentin after tests revealed the antibiotic syrup produced by Glaxo's French factory contained an unsafe level of DIDP
