You can read the first paragraph of the press release and figure this one out as Symbility is part of Decision Insight with what is called an indirect ownership created by other companies. As I keep saying it’s getting to be more difficult to figure out who owns who. Also it looks like CoreLogic will have more data to sell as they are a big participant in paying states for licenses to mine the public data, so much that one state a while back cut them off as the state servers slowed to a crawl and timely updates were not made along with the large number of algorithmic bots that were turned loose on the state servers. Again as I keep saying, time to license and excise tax the data sellers as they become even more powerful when you combine data sets and mining technologies together, more of the big guys against the little guys (us).

With all these big power houses of data and analytics, which is becoming more flawed as the data selling epidemic continues, sadly we had this from the FTC…totally out of touch and trusting…a bit Algo Duped if you ask me as they are not talking any IT infrastructure to regulate data sellers.
FTC “Reclaim Your Name Campaign” Not Good Enough–No Path for Regulation Identified–All Data Sellers Including Banks, Insurers, Etc. Should Be Required to Buy a License

I realize the importance of analytics and some are very good but it’s not all used in the proper context and that’s the problem as well as models that lie too with numbers that make profits only. It is interesting to see that data platforms are being turned into big money makers and some are good and some are not.

Again all who sell data, banks, companies, data brokers, etc. should have to buy a license and state what kind of data they sell and to who…Only the Query Masters know for sure what parameters are set as qualifiers and how they get manipulated as well as it is a booming billion dollar business that have been carved out of the air. You can’t touch an algorithm, see it, or speak to it but with the right programming and parameters they can take your money. It’s called modeling for inequality and the link below has a great video that explains quite a bit and Cathy O’Neill talks about “Weapons of Math Destruction”. BD
