Mevacor over the counter? No way, said the panel of experts meeting to advise the FDA on Merck’s proposal to make the cholesterol-lowering drug available without a prescription.

The vote this afternoon was a washout: 10 against, 2 in favor and 1 abstention, the WSJ’s Anna Wilde Mathews told us.
