Does RLS really have the power to make one increase their gambling?  As the article states with all the potential side effects, it does make RLS not seem so bad....with only 3% of adults potentially affected, do the commercials elevate this to a higher level?  BD 

Interestingly, the commercials don't even mention possible causes of restless legs, which include iron deficiency, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, cold remedies, and even pregnancy. By law, however, commercials must mention potential side-effects, and that list is long enough to perhaps make RLS not seem so bad.
For example, one commercial notes that the drug "may cause you to fall asleep or feel very sleepy during normal activities such as driving, or to faint or feel dizzy when you stand up. ..."
"Both ads point out they can increase gambling, sexual, and other urges," Metcalf said.

Here is another interesting note. Requip and Mirapex started out as drugs to treat Parkinson's disease.
