The last line here stand out..a comment from a Blue Cross spokesperson...how can the insurance company claim that the hospital would have a "higher than normal profit level"...is this the pot calling the kettle black? How about the profit levels of Blue Cross? BD
ARCADIA - Patients who have used Blue Cross medical insurance at Methodist Hospital may need to find care elsewhere. The hospital terminated its contract with Blue Cross of California on Jan. 1, leaving members of the insurance company unable be treated at Methodist Hospital unless they pay in full.
While the hospital claims it has been underpaid for two years, Blue Cross officials claim that Methodist is asking to make too much money off its patients.
Peggy Hinz, a Blue Cross spokeswoman, said the company is continuing to negotiate with Methodist Hospital. She said the hospital is asking for too much money. "The hospital's rate increase requests would have given them a profit margin well in excess of what would be reasonable to pay," Hinz said in an e-mailed statement.
