This is somewhat of a scary story in the fact that the woman has to be removed from the house with a hazardous material suit.  It makes you wonder why she waited so long.  Vacuuming the house could have helped.  The call to 911 was for chest pains and the mite infestation was discovered when responding to the call.  Bird mites are not lethal to humans, but again you wonder, how did the infestation go so far?  A bird’s nest was the culprit according to the report, but you might also wonder how often she maybe took a bath?  BD  image

Nassau Health Commissioner Maria Torroella Carney said emergency medical technicians used a hazardous material suit Thursday and quarantined Bradica in case she carried a serious communicable disease. Speaking by phone from her hospital room, Bradica said Friday she was "hanging in there" but could still feel the mites moving around on her skin. "I feel biting, just like someone pricking you with a needle, and you can feel them crawl, like a piece of hair is tickling you," she said.
