Medical Records and more integration in the chart, NextGen has recently entered in to an agreement to work with Zynx to imagebring this to the point of care level, in other words alerts and information incorporated with the EHR software to avoid wasting time with costly lookups in having to leave the window and search on the web.  With the information readily available, it will only be a click or two to access evidence based recommendations.  The electronic medical records keep getting smarter all the time, maybe this might be time for a rename instead of medical records, perhaps “smart charts” might be more applicable in time.  BD

Zynx Health in the third quarter of 2008 made more than 1,755 evidence-related changes to order sets and plans of care in its clinical decision support products, the Los Angeles-based vendor has announced. The company regularly updates content based on analysis of peer-reviewed literature, performance measures and regulatory guidelines.

Zynx also has created a database that catalogs all the changes and is accessible via a new application in the AuthorSpace content management tool.

“Under the agreement, NextGen Healthcare will provide Zynx’s AmbulatoryCareTM product with NextGen EMR, an award-winning system used by physicians across the country. Zynx AmbulatoryCare is a suite of clinical decision support content that includes evidence-based clinical recommendations, order sets, performance measure checklists, alerts, and reminders. Updated every six months, the content covers more than 100 diseases and conditions and is designed to support disease management and general health maintenance.”
