The Food and Drug Administration allowed BD Diagnostics to market the BD GeneOhm Cdiff molecular test for "rapid detection" of the toxin, the company said in a statement. The statement said the test should improve patient care by giving labs the choice of a single test that may eliminate the need for multiple screenings and tests.
That could speed up reporting and avoid unnecessary antibiotic use.
