Interesting interview here, and they mention there are over 2,000 Twitter clients to use the system, amazing.  Evan states Twitter is all consumer driven and talks about how it differs from other social networks, being a hybrid as it has a real functional business use as well. imageTwitter has a very large and active group of individuals in healthcare and they could be reading this( grin) since all that I have run across are very polished and experienced on using Twitter; and surgery was “tweeted” from operating room not too long ago.

He talks about algorithmic designs on how to make it more interesting and useful.  Like most bloggers, I run my blog posts through Twitter.  I use a couple different clients, one in Outlook and Twitter Fox and am playing around with a couple more.  Charlie Rose is kind of amusing though the interview when trying to nail Evan down on deciding who to following and when.  Shoot you can even use Twitter to track your FedEx and UPS packages. (see related below)

The big question, of course, is how can Twitter make money.  Information is easier to monetize than social use and Twitter is somewhere in the middle between both. I have accounts on both, but have to admit Twitter gets a lot more attention from me than does Facebook, but again I am using it more of a blogging/business tool for readers rather than what time picked up my laundry, but there’s nothing wrong with that either it’s just the followers I have would probably consider me extremely boring, so you can get another Twitter account if you want just for personal use an restrict who can see those messages if you want.

Facebook just pretty much runs my feeds and posts from Twitter and the Blog, although I do come and make personal comments to others and answer questions.  I think some folks out there miss the boat on this a bit and only send their blog posts through without any personal comments, which make the difference between just seeing another “text box” on the web, and someone that gives some recognition and has some personality.

Will be interesting to see if we start to see Charlie Rose Twitter.  Lance Armstrong is very active with Twitter and and the LiveStrong website has featured a couple posts from the Medical Quack as a result.  Being active such as Lance is on Twitter helps generate contributions for “causes” a well, again why the interaction is important with Twitter, you don’t have to over do, but step in for 30 seconds and be a “human” text box, we like it.  BD

Twitter co-founder and chief executive Evan Williams was on Charlie Rose last week to talk about the rise of the service.

After acknowledging that not even he can really explain the success Twitter has seen, Williams goes on to explain Twitter to Rose, and the two talk about some of the key aspects of the service as it evolves into a mainstream utility.
