Hospitals and clinics are connecting in Hawaii. Pacific Health consists of 4 hospitals and several clinics. Patients will now be able to log on and have their own PHR with lab results, get refills and communicate via email with their physicians. If you look at the image, the log on shows MyChart from Epic on the screen. Epic is the same system used by many large hospitals on the mainland to include Cedar Sinai and Kaiser Permanente.
With the doctors at the clinics being connected patients will have the ability to interact and better participate in their own healthcare. A short while back I spoke with Dr. Leo from Long Beach Memorial Hospital who also uses Epic and they were able to accomplish the same/similar arrangement with Talbert Medical Offices. BD
