Venture Capital Concerned More About The FDA Decisions More Than Their Involvement in Healthcare Reform

<p> I say in my opinion, this is pretty valid.  The FDA like every other government structure is going through massive changes and updates, and one example is Social Security looking at emerging from old Cobol systems for another example.  This is what we have out there and needs for upgrades in technology are massive.  In California our Governor slates the same issues, it’s all over.<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/S-B9_dD_6zI/AAAAAAAAdyk/fMIpRkCZHI4/s1600-h/image%5B7%5D.png"><img align="right" alt="image" border="0" height="167" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/S-B9_-j3f3I/AAAAAAAAdyo/uJW_MHbDtRU/image_thumb%5B3%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; When the $330 billion market collapsed in February 2008, interest on the auction bonds spiked. <strong>The hospital’s soaring interest rates exceeded limits set by California law for public hospitals and cost Tri-City Medical Center $15 million, according to the lawsuit.</strong> <br /><u>Under California law, the hospital cannot assume debt with interest rates above 12%, the lawsuit said</u>. Interest on Tri-City’s auction bonds climbed above the state limit repeatedly between November 2008 and December 2009, reaching as high as 14.5%, according to the complaint.</p> <p>Alex Samuelson, a Citigroup spokesman, declined to comment on the lawsuit. $58 Million Premarin/Prempro Breast Cancer Judgment – Wyeth (Pfizer) Asks for New Trial

Remote Area Medical Free Medical Clinic Wraps Up in Los Angeles – May 3rd 2010 – Electronic Records Were Used

Infusion Pump Recall For Baxter – Will Offer Exchange Sigma Spectrum for Recalled Colleague Models

<p>I have added information about a couple of devices that have FDA approval to use transcranial magnetic stimulation in the recent past.  We are coming of age to where maybe some of the medications used for depression can be “zapped” away.  The study in this article shows some relief with treating depression.<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/S9-k6n2X2vI/AAAAAAAAdxo/Aw7voMM8u0c/s1600-h/image%5B3%5D.png"><img align="right" alt="image" border="0" height="240" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/S9-k7tRcrQI/AAAAAAAAdxs/IP9LvWb3IMw/image_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" width="216" /></a>   I do have to say just looking at the picture somewhat makes me feel a little squeezy.  </p> <h4><a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2008/10/brainsway-gets-fda-nod-for-device-trial.html"><font size="2">Brainsway gets FDA nod for device trial – Another Device for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation</font></a></h4> <h4><a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2008/10/fda-clears-neurostar-tms-therapy-for.html"><font size="2">FDA Clears Neurostar® TMS Therapy For The Treatment Of Depression</font></a></h4> <p>The entire process per treatment is 37 minutes, so it is something one can squeeze in on the lunch hour if needed.  There’s also the more radical treatments for more radical conditions:  magnetic seizure therapy is a more robust version of TMS which produces a seizure on purpose and thus requires anesthesia and a similar setting.  </p> <p>The treatment for depression is of course a lighter process and now that clinical trials are underway they are looking for the ability to target other portions of the brain.  Overall so far the jury is still out on this one as some have been helped while others were not.  The initial time frame was for 3 weeks and those who felt their moods lift were given additional 3 weeks of treatment.  The testing is being conducted with individuals who had not responded to the normal medications given for depression.  The ones who had success stated their depression remained in remission for several months.  Boy this is bold new territory here and I’m sure we will be hearing more as the trials continue.  BD</p> <blockquote> <p>ScienceDaily (May 3, 2010) — Some depressed patients who don't respond to or tolerate antidepressant medications may benefit from a non-invasive treatment that stimulates the brain with a pulsing electromagnet, a study suggests. Google Integrating “Google Health” Information Into Search Engine Results
