Authorities said that Mission Viejo physician, Dr. Roy Chi Wing Lung, made Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center his home away from home even though he was not on staff there. In a state complaint, prosecutors allege Lung was using the doctor's sleeping room, Internet and fax machines.
Fountain Valley police said they found five boxes of sutures in his car. They said Lung told them he would sell the medical supplies for $50 a box on the Internet. The medical board has suspended his license, in part, because he pleaded no contest to stealing laptops and equipment from a Long Beach hospital in 2004. He was sentenced to four days in jail. The hospital said Tuesday that, "It is sad and unfortunate that this individual took advantage of us, and we are relieved that he was caught and arrested. He was never involved with patients."
