Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston made the “Desperate Hospitals” update I do every month in March, with a note about what they were doing to get staff and employees involved. (Desperate Hospitals was also featured in the Chicago Sun Times).
“Note: hats off to Mr. Levy’s approach with involving everyone in staff meetings to create solutions in these difficult times and the hospital was able to reduce the number of anticipated lay offs to 150 instead of a higher anticipated number. My personal opinion is that this should be status quo at every facility.”
Why don’t we see more of this? As you can see there has been some success, enough and in a fashion to catch the eye of NBC News. Sometimes I think we get so distracted we lose sight of the human side of things, helping each other out when times are tough. What is also nice is the fact that we have Mr. Levy’s blog to offer even more personalized information. This is job well done under difficult times when funds are tight, and also a nice hand for the doctors and executives that gave up part of their income, salaries, bonuses, etc. to make all this happen and keep as many as possible working.
