This is sad story as he was waiting and the articles states it was a heart attack, but while waiting he was robbed of his watch by others who had signed in and fled before security could catch them with the dying man’s watch.  Back in September we had a doctor steal a watch from a patient and left him to die.  BD

The Philadelphia hospital where Joaquin Rivera died while waiting to see a doctor - and where his watch was stolen by suspected drug imageaddicts - said today that it was conducting an "intensive internal investigation" of the incident that has gained national attention.

Rivera, 63, was pronounced dead at 12:04 a.m. Sunday - one hour and 19 minutes after he checked into the emergency room at Aria Health-Frankford Campus complaining of pain in the left side of his torso, police said.

"Aria officials are conducting an intensive internal investigation into this event and are coordinating their efforts with law enforcement," the hospital said in a statement this evening.

Rivera, who lived just two blocks from the hospital, worked as a bilingual counselor at Olney High School and was a popular musician in Philadelphia's Puerto Rican community.

At 10:45 p.m. Saturday, he walked into the emergency room, signed in, and took a seat in the waiting area, police said.

  1. Why did it take so long to tend to a man with pains on his left side? I am not a doctor but prioritize your patients. MaYBE this man would still be alive. What does emergency room stand for? Come in and rob me while I am dying. This is a sad world.

  2. I agree, very sad and not too long ago the doctor stealing the patient's watch and leaving him to die. You wonder where are people's ethics at times.
