Nice report and video on how the UK is using technology inside and outside the hospitals...speech recognition, kiosk check in, tablet pcs, Robo Doc, and other robots wondering the halls to bring better health care and more efficient use of time.  The NHS is one if not the largest clients using Microsoft technology, but the video will also show additional software applications integrated for the full solution....BD

An x-ray is an old fashioned photograph which takes time to develop and then imageexists as an artifact that has to be physically passed around to everyone who needs it.Instead a machine scans the image straight into a central database and makes it instantly available on the radiology ward and across the bbcspeechhospital in the consultant's office.  Using speech recognition - with a specialized medical dictionary to add notes directly to the image - cuts out the need for dictation and eliminates typing errors.

The new interface starts with a touchscreen computer at the front door. That is bbctabletbbctablet2not the only use for the touchscreen. Tablet personal computers are used to replicate the standard drawings made during a consultation with a physiotherapist.
