Renaissance has acquired other bankrupt hospitals over the years and now may find itself in the same situation, new hospital can't get off the ground..contractors not getting paid...property taxes not being paid...liens being filed...County filing lawsuit to go after the assets...scheduled opening was in February 2007...building stands empty as of today...hope this is not a sign of the times....BD

image When Renaissance Healthcare Systems announced plans to renovate the former Dallas/Fort Worth Medical Center in Grand Prairie in 2006, officials promised a lavish facility with private rooms, a courtesy van to transport patients within 100 miles and a four-star chef. Contractors and vendors say Renaissance hasn't paid them in months.

City officials cheered, not only for the potential redevelopment of the blighted area but also for the medical care the hospital would provide for the first time since the medical center closed in 2000. Not only is Renaissance not paying contractors, but it also isn't paying property taxes. As of mid-March, the company owed more than $1 million in taxes to four counties.
