Today, July 1, 2008 is the effective date of the 10% Medi-Cal cuts, the day California begins operating without a budget, and the day that the 10.6% Medicare cut kicks in as well. In my office, that means I will be paid 10% less for nearly half of my patient population. Doctors are notoriously bad at finances, but even I can see this is not a good way to run a business and make payroll!
