They now have 70 subscribers, one of the new subscribers was me this morning. At least they are getting there even though they have had an account since September 6th of last year.
This is amazing that the the Channel exists out there, and yet very few are tuned in. I have done my part here and added the link to the blog right below the other FDA information links that are included on this site. I can see though why it may be difficult to find and that has to do with the name of the channel. It took me a short while to locate the Channel Site for the FDA. The name and the tag used to find the site appears to be an issue as I did a simple search for FDA and came up with nothing, so the official name of the FDA Channel is USFoodandDrugAdmin. I would have never guessed that one and searched under other potential tags as well. At least now I have it and felt it should be passed along to others. There are a total of 63 videos on the YouTube Channel. Maybe it’s all the name to why is hasn’t been found.
I am also glad that someone else took the time to point this out for me as well from the Eye on the FDA site. Here’s one example of the videos on the YouTube Channel and hopefully more like this will be posted. This talks about the proper use of glucose strips, and well worth the watch. This is a good point of reference for physicians to use not only for their own information, but also patient education. It’s a resource with value, yet it seems to have been buried on the Internet, whether it be lack of advertisement or promotion, or whatever the reason may be, it’s a valuable resource not to be overlooked by any means. They are catching up over at the FDA. BD
“It is worth noting that the agency is utilizing YouTube to educate patients. Right now, the FDA has only 61 subscribers and has had a YouTube account since September of last year and they are just posting video from reports generated in May, but nevertheless, it is worth watching the development of viable patient instruction video and its role in future risk management.”
