62,500 children left or were terminated from May to October, and this is nice mess to work through. The problem related to transitioning a 14 year old software solution to a modern day situation and obviously either the data transfer has issued or some data had corrupted, or a combination of both, maybe. Parents were paying out of pocket for healthcare items that should have been covered. BD
DAYTONA BEACH -- Computer errors in a state health insurance program has officials contacting families of thousands of children who may have been improperly dropped over the last five months to try to get them enrolled again. Child advocates and officials with Florida Healthy Kids Corp. said a change in the state's computer system for KidCare caused glitches in which notices were sent out late, or not at all, to families that premiums were due or that their insurance was up for renewal. In other cases, letters were not properly sent out informing parents that more documents were needed to continue their coverage.
A 14-year-old software solution that tracks the current health insurance of thousands of Florida's kids? No wonder there was some kind of problem. Looks like the transition comes not a moment to soon.
ReplyDeleteI seem to come up with more government breach stories and it may just have something to do with the age of the systems that are running out there.
