The uninsured, tort reform and the nursing shortage? Yeah, they matter. But obesity matters a lot more.
That was the conclusion a bunch of CEOs reached today, in a meeting where they hashed out what they thought the president-elect’s top health priorities should be.
The looming disease burden associated with the epidemic, and all the costs and suffering it will entail, apparently pushed it ahead of other, frequently discussed health-reform issues.
The group — which included the CEOs of Pfizer, Novartis, WellPoint and the Mayo Clinic, among others — is part of the WSJ CEO Council, a conference the Journal convened in DC this week.
