More volunteers are needed to help pull off Orange County’s  Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event Sept. 27 in Newport Beach. In imageaddition to volunteers on race weekend, Komen will open a first-ever registration office in a vacant Fashion Island storefront. Volunteers are needed to help there beginning Sept. 5th.

Komen needs about 1,300 volunteers to work the race, which draws more than 30,000 participants and raises about $3 million for research and local prevention and assistance programs.

Jobs include:  monitoring the course,  directing parking, loading and unloading trucks, and taking down and cleaning up afterward. Volunteers are also needed in the weeks before the race to staff the new Komen Registration Suite at Fashion Island, where teams can register and pick up their packets. The office will be located at Atrium Court, lower level near Barnes & Noble.
