The court case states this is a potential felony by accepting gifts and benefits from the insurers. From what the article says here United gave her a job, and I am guessing this was after her tenure of insurance commissioner was completed. I could maybe say the decision made could have very likely involved the hospital filing the case as well.
The problem with all of this is just like what we have in Washington, except on a smaller scale, but we end up unfortunately with the same results with the public interest not at heart and the benefits and gifts influencing decisions. BD
Arkansas Surgical Hospital on Friday sued the two largest private insurers in the state and a former Arkansas Insurance commissioner, claiming the companies gave the commissioner benefits - including meals and, in United Healthcare's case, a job - for a favorable decision in a 2008 case.
