Mirapex is known to many as a drug prescribed for RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) and is also used for treating Parkinson’s Disease. This is a Wall Street Banker filing the case as he claims it caused him to become a compulsive gambler, well and I guess he must have lost a lot. He is no longer taking the drug, but feels he was not adequately warned of the side effects and wants compensation. Pfizer commented they said they have not had any involvement since the year 2005 when studies arose that the drug could be linked to compulsive behaviors. I am curious though as to what drug has replaced Mirapex for his Parkinsons. BD
The lawsuit, filed in New York State Court on Tuesday, accuses the privately held German drugmaker Boehringer Ingelheim, Pfizer and Pharmacia & Upjohn of breach of warranty, negligence and negligent misrepresentation. Randolph Simens, 55, said that he took the drug, Mirapex, from 2002 to 2007 after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and suffering hand tremors.
