The catch is you need to have a 45 day or longer wait, or be put on the list that is anticipated to take that long.  Premiums will be around $75 to about $225 a month.  The coverage would allow for treatment in Private BC clinics or in the US.

Canadians are getting their first exposure to insurance in this pilot program.  BD

VANCOUVER - Nearly a million B.C. residents will have an opportunity to sample new medical insurance that allows them to get treatment at a private clinic if they are put on a 45-day or longer wait list. The 800,000 members of the B.C. Automobile Association are being offered the chance to test pilot the insurance plan, which would allow them to get expedited attention in private B.C. or U.S. clinics. "We conducted a focus group of about 800 members and 53 per cent indicated they would be interested in buying this kind of policy option," said Daniel Mircovic, vice-president of insurance and travel for the organization.
