Mergers and acquisitions continue in healthcare and perhaps we will see more like this one? If you have not caught on yet, the financial side is kind of ruling today with acquisitions being on steroids. Part of the reason here too is the combination of data for more extreme business intelligence data analysis. Some of the medical record businesses have done the opposite, with either an acquisition or a committed partnership. Many have practice management incorporated so this is where the dollar actions take place with the billing too.
Now you can theoretically do your payroll via the practice management and EHR combination, or at least it will more than likely go that direction with hours, tracking log ons, etc. If one were a doctor working in several locations, I could see this connection with log on time, etc. for one simple example. Data will be connected, analyzed and more intelligence created here. If an MD were already on the payroll at ADP, then they could also perhaps provide training services too on how to use the medical records system. Again, when HIMSS bought out Medical Banking a couple of years ago I think that was the ultimate hint at the move to transactions and more business intelligence methodologies to be incorporated. BD
