Ok in healthcare we keep hearing about the “wellness portals” that are mostly owned by insurers and their algorithms being the savior for all costs with healthcare. I write too how they scrape data which is in turn sold for profit as well. We saw that with the Penn State Gestapo type of enforcement with wanting to fine non participants.
Well that was the wrong place but Congress could be the right place:) We have everyone and their brother analyzing every little detail about us and tout the claims to the value of predictive behavior analytics, so this looks like it could be useful here with giving consumer an data generated idea on what type of behavior we can expect with our lawmakers.
YOU’RE ON NOTICE CONGESS, CONSUMERS WANT “YOUR” DATA NOW:)
Secondly we read about all the reports and marketed values on behavior modifications and how modifying behavior will save money and create more productive workers…well…where do we need it the most…duh?
YOU’RE ON NOTICE CONGRESS, WE WANT YOUR BEHAVIOR MODIFIED:)
We have this “whack job” that forces his behavior on all of us with Dr. Seuss…

And this there’s this one who get bored with his job making laws and listening to others…
Senator John McCain: Another Demonstration of Why Congress Should Reinstitute the Office of Technology Assessment, When Education Takes Place, Less Distractions With Boredom And More Respect for Consumers…
Put John McCain and Ted Cruz in the same room so John McCain can sit and play poker on his cellphone while Ted Cruz reads Dr. Seuss, a match made in heaven no less:)
GIVE THEM A PORTAL TO FIX THEM UP AND KEEP THEM OCCUPIED AT MINIMUM!
JUST SHUT UP AND GO ENTER YOUR DATA IN THE PORTAL PLEASE!
Sure there’s some satire in here and that’s what this is supposed to be to make a couple points, one we want to predict and see better behavior in Congress and second of all stop pushing these portal algorithms as being the entire Holy Grail for everyone else’s behavior so let’s let Congress try these on for size with a “real” beta here.
Actually there are a couple tools that all of Congress could use to make them smarter and probably get along better. Check out the links below from my archives, get an IBM Watson set up in there to help model laws better as you need better research capabilities and the ability to see some “unintended consequences” up front and everyone would start with the same figures and numbers, a time saver there as well.
IBM Watson Going to Work At Citigroup on Wall Street–Congress Didn’t See Big Data As A Tool (Hadoop Framework) When They Had Their Chance…For Consumers The Attack of the Killer Algorithms–Chapter 22
Second restore the Office of Technology Assessment to help members of Congress with technologies as every law has IT infrastructures attached and when the shut down took place it turned loose a ton of screeching algorithms to furlough federal employees. There’s IT work involved with all of this and it cost money and time, not to mention the salaries of the federal employees! Duh!!
Congress Needs a Bigger Brain–Restore the Office of Technology Assessment And Truly Assess What is Useful And Remove The Algo Duping Permeating In Government–Fantasy Perceptions That Are Not Real Can Be A Dangerous Thing
And last but not least start giving some of the nerds and geeks some recognition and respect as they make all of this happen, like all the work and hours of time that went into getting the insurance exchange betas going.
A PORTAL ALLOWING BEHAVIORAL CONGRESSIONAL SEGEMENTATION WOULD REALLY HELP CONSUMERS UNDERSTAND WHAT THE HELL’S GOING ON BACK THERE:) WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO BEGIN TO ASSIGN RISK TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM.
Gee what effect would pay for performance do in Congress..an interesting thought..BD
