This came out of the blue when the man passes away from heart problems and was in the estate. His father had also been treated at the hospital. I wonder how this will work now that the new company was formed with combining St. Josephs and Hoag from a few months ago. BD
St. Josephs and Hoag Hospital In the OC Form New Healthcare Network Combining Hospitals
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Orange County's Hoag Hospital has received a surprise $53 million estate gift — the largest donation in hospital history.
The Orange County Register reports (http://bit.ly/1ffT62J ) the late Los Angeles businessman who made the gift never informed officials of his plans to create a private foundation that will distribute funds to the hospital for years to come.
Jeffrey Carlton of Long Beach died last year at age 61 from heart problems. Carlton was the founder and CEO of Press Forge, one of the largest U.S. suppliers of forging services and products.
The first $15 million will go to hospital's heart and vascular institute, which will be renamed for Carlton.
