Hospital mergers continue to be on the map. BD
The parent company of the St. Joseph Health System announced Wednesday that it's in the process of being sold to one of the largest Catholic health systems in the country.
Sylvania Franciscan Health signed a non-binding letter of intent to join the Catholic Health Initiatives. The St. Joseph Health System is operated by SFH, and the acquisition would include its clinics and offices around the Brazos Valley.
The two health care systems expect to reach an agreement this fall.
CHI is a nonprofit health care system headquartered in Englewood, Colorado. It operates more than 80 hospitals nationwide. Shay said a merger with the larger group will help St. Joseph stay competitive in bidding, keeping prices lower and gain access to more resources for growth.
