Congressional investigation suspends grant.  NIH grants are becoming more difficult to obtain, read the related link below for additional information, no 2nd tries, all at once.  If the program is suspended we might just all be visiting facilities already equipped with one of these for the fix and never know what treatments are going to work best, a few sessions here has the potential of a short time fix, approved by the FDA this week and no medication required.  This is just one example, but when it comes to devices versus medication, it’s a different world, so it just might be all up to us to guess it appears if we don’t get our answers from the suspended study.   Also you can now follow the NIH on Twitter.  BD

Now, the NIH is halting payments on the last three years of the five-year grant “pending resolution of outstanding issues relating to conflict of interest procedures,” a university official told the Journal-Constitution. Nemeroff is no longer listed as the principal investigator on the grant, which funded an study into what factors make common treatments for depression more likely to succeed.

The NIH is putting a hold on a five-year, $9.3 million grant to Emory, after a senator raised questions about drug industry payments to the chair of the med school’s psychiatry department.
