This is good to know it does happen, but it could be in our heads too, with over-anticipation of calls.  BD

MINNESOTA (AP) - Have you ever put your phone on vibrate and you feel it ring, but you come to find out that no one has called you after picking it up?

You can relax because that sensation is known as phantom cell phone vibrations.

In time the brain starts to over-anticipate, picking up all sorts of cues.

So, for many people, the vibrations are felt when they're walking, rubbing on a counter or putting on a seatbelt.

"If you're in a situation where your pants are dragging against your skin, you're creating signals that are stimulating these vibration sensors that are being carried into the brain," Schrater said.
