Hopefully more will come out on this story as to why and how.  These are franchise locations, just like the local fast food businesses we visit, thus they are run locally under the terms and agreements of the franchise holder.  If they were expired then it would be up to the local management to stay on top of this I would guess, but it could go further into seeing if the source of the shipments were expired to see if any other stores could have been affected, probably unlikely, but another stone not to be missed.  Just last week a announcement was made about an agreement with Prime Therapeutics to serve as its primary supply chain partner for branded and generic pharmaceuticals, effective August 1.  BD 

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers who filled prescriptions at The Medicine Shoppe pharmacies located at 8035A Liberty Road and 5900 Reisterstown Road in Baltimore that they may have received drugs that were either expired or suspected counterfeit. The FDA is particularly concerned because a number of the drugs are for serious diseases and could have an adverse effect on treatment.

St. Louis-based Medicine Shoppe International Inc., a Cardinal Health company, is the nation's largest franchisor of independent community pharmacies.
