I’m not sure exactly what this means, do the existing systems get shelved? The VA has Vista and ALTHA for the military so is this a marrying of the two systems or starting over. If starting over, that is one big project and a lot of money. BD
Government Accounting Office says DOD and VA need better strategic planning for EHR Interoperability
WASHINGTON – The Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs will create a joint electronic medical record for streamlined movement of health records between the agencies, President Obama announced on Thursday.
The departments will work together to define and build a system that will ultimately contain administrative and medical information from the day an individual enters military service throughout their military career, and after they leave the military.
