This is a neat system and I covered a little of this technology with a pot last month with a hospital here in California using a system with Voalte.  This is a replacement for the pagers that have been carried for one example.  BD

Press Release:

AtlantaTo demonstrate the value of standards-based health information technologies, Philips will be showcasing the Emergin notification solution in the HIMSS10 Interoperability Showcase, part of the 2010 Annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference & Exhibition from March 1-4, 2010. image

Philips will perform as an Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise Alarm Communication Management (IHE ACM) profile Alarm Manager actor using Emergin to deliver HL7 originated notifications to a variety of communication devices.  The showcase will demonstrate how triggered events from medical devices such as patient monitors, bed systems and infusion pumps can be dispatched to a variety of output communication devices, including one-way pagers, wireless phones and patient room communication devices.

Philips will be highlighting this solution in conjunction with the full range of Philips Healthcare Informatics solutions.  The Emergin alert management solution integrates with a broad suite of output communication devices including Cisco phones, Vocera badges, Spectralink phones, ASCOM phones and RIM Blackberry as well as the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

Partner demonstrations of Emergin integrations at HIMSS10 include:

· Voalté - Emergin/iPhone integration

· Cisco - Emergin/Cisco integration of Philips monitoring waveforms

The 2010 Showcase will incorporate the initial, proposed metrics of meaningful use of electronic health record and other connected systems as part of its real-time demonstrations. Attendees can track their EHRs and PHRs through the Showcase, designed as a HIMSS Health Information Exchange (HIE)-based environment with realistic demonstration of complex healthcare scenarios.  These settings use the standards-based IHE framework and specifications of the Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP), recognized and accepted by the Department of Health and Human Services.
