Microsoft Healthvault now has SureScripts online with to populate your personal health record with prescription data and history. With adding Surescripts we sort of have the grand daddy of the data base that most e-prescribing programs use, Quest Diagnostics for one example uses Surescripts. You can look at a couple images below and you will see just about everybody on the list from Rite Aid to Kroger.
If you are a long time reader of this blog I always have the link ready and available for anyone to get started with their own HealthVault account as it has a permanent link on the right where I list some helpful resources. It looks like this:
Quest Diagnostics and Surescripts To Integrate Lab and Prescription Algorithms To Improve Safety and Outcomes
A while back I spoke to Quest Diagnostics on how the connection works along with getting your lab results into your PHR.
Quest Diagnostics and Health IT – Interview with Rohit Nayak, Vice President of Sales, Clinical Information Solutions Group, MedPlus
In addition I have a Personal Health Records section with over 300 posts with many “how to’s” and detailed information on how to work with both HealthVault and Google Health. Click on the images to find out more and they are permanently linked at the top of the Medical Quack.
Use the 2nd search box to find information easily and even search other blogs with those I link to for additional information. Here’s how to use the search feature and the results are almost instant and you can search Google on the web at the same time.
Below is the link to HeatlhVault for additional information and I use it and have my mother’s records in place here and it works well as she is out of state so I have all her records in one place.
“According to Harry Totonis, Surescripts' president and CEO, "Surescripts built the nation's e-prescribing network and the ecosystem to support it, based on the foundations of neutrality, efficiency and quality. This strategic alliance will leverage the strengths and experience behind our laboratory and prescription networks with an intent to form an information-rich, interoperable service that helps to lower costs and transform patient care throughout the healthcare system."
We all talk about consumer healthcare IT literacy at the consumer level and this has been a huge issue and largely due to lack of role models I feel, but you don’t have to wait. With a little help and instruction, my 86 year old mother does fine with using HealthVault and can handle the basics and access her information as well. BD
