Veterans Administration Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS), a northern California-based hospital group, part of The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) nationwide network of hospitals, has purchased Zargis medical's 15 Cardioscan systems.
Zargis Medical (a majority-owned subsidiary of Speedus Corp) said that its Cardioscan heart sound analysis software is designed to help healthcare practitioners analyze cardiac sounds for the identification and classification of suspected heart murmurs, which can be signs of heart disease.
In conjunction with the Web-enabled TeleSteth platform, the Cardioscan system also allows healthcare professionals to transmit physiological sounds to colleagues located anywhere in the world.
The VAPAHCS consists of three in-patient facilities and seven outpatient clinics located in Palo Alto, California and the surrounding region. Affiliated with the Stanford University School of Medicine, VAPAHCS is also a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services with enhanced technology as well as education and research.
