Here we go again as there’s a lot of news of late with mergers and acquisitions in the news today. If you read the news of late this was the worst year that non profit hospitals have had in years so we might see more of these. I read around the web about folks talking about the different medical records systems and actually they could all use a product and integrate their records today from Zoeticx. This is a big deal when mergers happen today as medical record integration is on everyone’s mind. At any rate, I read where there are 3 different systems, Epic, Cerner and AllScripts involved and one platform could unite them all and the Allscripts hospital can buy it right off the Allscripts website to get started.

One does begin to wonder what’s going to happen when all the mergers and acquisitions are done. In the rural parts of the US we have had so many of those close as they have run out of money so all hospitals are not created equal today by any means. BD
Two of Chicago's largest hospital systems on Thursday approved plans to combine, creating a 16-hospital, $6.8 billion system that promises to change the competitive landscape of health care in the Chicago region.
Advocate Health Care, the state's largest hospital system, and NorthShore University HealthSystem, the dominant hospital chain in the North Shore suburbs, said Thursday they will merge to create Advocate NorthShore Health Partners in a deal that's expected to close in early 2015.
The blockbuster deal is the largest hospital merger in Illinois in recent years, a trend set in motion by the federal Affordable Care Act and fueled in part by declining hospital patient volume and tighter finances.
It will create the 11th-largest nonprofit health system in the country and by the far the largest in Illinois, with more than 45,000 employees and 4,438 hospital beds.
